Coldplay – Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

I am so excited about this and officially cannot wait for the new Coldplay album due out later this year.

Coldplay - Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

My favorite line of the song:

I’d rather be a comma than a full stop

“Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” is pure Coldplay. Some people think that Coldplay is getting “worse,” but if you listen to this song and listen to some of the songs from Viva La Vida, it makes sense why they would continue along this music route. It’s an anthem. It was created to get concert-goers’ hands in the air… Fists pumping… Singing at the top of their lungs! Once 1:06 hits, there’s no going back.

This song reminds me of “Lovers in Japan,” one of my favorite songs from Viva La Vida. Bret and I listened to “Lovers in Japan” a lot because we loved “Rein of Love” (which came right after the song). I also think it was one of my favorites because of their music video for it, too. Since I’m missing the Viva La Vida album, I posted a playlist of the whole thing below.

I guarantee there’s going to be a bunch of dance remixes made of “Every Teardrop…”. Coldplay will headline the opening night of this year’s Glastonbury festival on June 24. Most likely, they will play some new material along with some old favorites.

Both Coldplay and The Killers released Christmas songs this week. Neither song really gives me a Christmas “feeling.” Coldplay’s song is very pretty, and I will never object to a new Coldplay song. However, Bret and I watched an interview 60 Minutes did with Coldplay over a year ago, and Chris previewed the song. When he previewed the song, I was SO EXCITED. The song sounded beautiful. You can watch part of the interview here at around the 1:07 mark. Chris says, “That’s gonna be good though – I can feel it.” And it would have been good if he stuck with that song. The one that came out this week is good and really beautiful, but sounds nothing like the song he showed us.

Out of the two, I much prefer The Killers’ song. Is it because Brandon Flowers looks so great in this video? Maybe. I actually really like the story the song tells and the video goes along well with the lyrics. The Killers make a Christmas song each year, and none of them really ever sound like Christmas songs. It’s the thought that counts, though — right? You can find their old songs below, along with the videos to Coldplay’s new song “Christmas lights” and The Killers new song “Boots.”

Today marks the big 5 year mark for Bret and I. Since meeting one another freshman year, we have grown older, wiser, and stronger with our relationship with each other. We also have acquired a dog (coolest. dog. ever) and an apartment. Now, we stand side by side trying to deal with this complicated thing called “life” — but we’re doing it together.

Bret, this is my ode to you. Songs have been a part of our relationship from the very start. Several of our friends have many memories with us that directly relate to music whether it’s Dispatch’s “The General” or Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction.”

Today’s playlist has songs that have memories between you and I. These songs include most of our personal favorites during freshman year while sharing headphones and studying, napping with a song on repeat, or the playlist we listened to while going to one another’s homes for the very first time to meet the parents (ahhh!).
